The conference was supported by several European projects including ”Boosting Urban Mobility Plans – BUMP”.

During the conference it was highlighted that 14 SUMPs are in different stages of development in Romania at the moment as well as the fact that the main 8 eight  Romanian cities (growth poles) are supported by EBRD in the development of exemplary SUMPs.

It is of notable achievement that 7 municipalities (2 growth poles) which were present at the event are participating cities in the BUMP project. Namely representatives of Constanța, Ploiești, Alba Iulia, Bistrița, Baia Mare, Oradea and Zalău were present at the event giving insights and information about their cities‘ involvement in the elaboration of SUMPs. Moreover, Mr. Stelian Nicola, the general manager of the local transport company, gave a presentation on behalf of Alba Iulia municipality in the parallel session "All People" - topic "Tackling mobility poverty and approaches to making mobility affordable" in which he outlined the current situation regarding urban mobility, highlighting the manner in which in Alba Iulia a modern and innovative transport system has been implemented (e-ticketing, high-end and energy efficiency buses, modern fleet management, real-time passenger information system, low fees for disadvantaged social categories)
